Penetrating Paver Sealer
Driveway pavers are much stronger, denser, and lower in absorption than regular pavers. This sealer is formulated for the ability to penetrate into these extra dense concrete and clay pavers and provide:
- Stain Resistance
- Efflorescence (white powder) suppression
- Sand joint stabilization (glue particles together and hold in place)
- Little to no gloss for retention of natural traction
- Strengthen any potential weak spots in the surface

| Not sure if an Aldon product is right for you? Good! You never know if the results will be exactly what you expect until you try it on your project. Order samples and eliminate the guesswork. See label reproduction below for application instructions.
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS:
- Acrylic in a solvent base.
- Low medium solids level for deep penetration and low gloss.
- Gloss can be customized from low to high
- Used indoors and outdoors - does not yellow or break down
- Clear in color, usually darkens and richens material colors a shade or two
- For surfaces over 3% absorption rating. Materials of under 3% absorption rating will allow less penetration and leave more solids on the surface than might be desirable. See the "Problem Solving" section on sealing if you don't know the absorption rating and can't find out from the store that sold you the material.
ITEMS OF INTEREST:
- Since 2005 "Penetrating Paver Sealer" was developed for, and sold by, Calstone Company. Calstone is located in Northern California and is one of the highest quality concrete interlocking paver manufacturers in the United States. This sealer can be purchased from Calstone or from Aldon.
- When you have surfacing (and/or grout) of uneven color, you can seal with
Penetrating Paver Sealer
and use its color enhancing effect to "mask over" some color differences.
- An Aldon sealer can do a lot more than just protect and look pretty. See the
for addressing other benefits of using a sealer, such as: strengthening weak or powdery surfaces, making minor color problems disappear, stopping efflorescence, etc. These issues are covered in detail in
- You can protect a glossy finish sealer from traffic wear patterns by using Aldon Lifeguard, however, that is usually not done on driveway or needed.
- The sealer is easy to repair if needed. New "Penetrating Paver Sealer" will melt old sealer and all will bond together. But, use enough liquid to melt the old sealer so that all penetrates into the pavers. Do not just add layer on top of layer as that does not create a good bond to the pavers.
- See the product label reproduction below for all the information on surface preparation, application technique, drying time, etc. This label reproduction will always be the most current. Because we are constantly improving information and passing on tips from users, this could be more up to date than the label on the container.
- If you have extremely porous surfacing that seems to be absorbing too much sealer, click
here for the technique to decrease the gallonage of sealer needed.
- Renewal of a glossy finish (and if there is no coating like Lifeguard on top): sealer applications can be made hours or years later, but do not apply thin layer upon thin layer. Apply a sufficient quantity to insure below surface penetration & bonding. Or, test spray on of lacquer thinner as an alternative to slightly melt and reform the surface and not build too much gloss or sealer layering.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If you do not see the results you expect:
It is not a problem with the product! (They all do what we say they do!)
- Your conditions may have been misdiagnosed! (It can happen, even with all the information we provide.)
- The surface conditions (absorption rate, contaminants, temperatures, etc.) are other than thought.
- And/or - it was not applied per label instructions! (The instructions are designed to overcome items 1 and 2 above, and overcome job conditions of which you might not be aware.)

When you read all the health and safety warnings, you will see we have done our best to make you think about working with any chemicals from any manufacturer. Even household cleaners purchased in supermarkets (many with more hazardous ingredients than we use due to cost factors) should be used with common sense and awareness. People have been injured by not knowing you can create poisonous gases by mixing chlorine bleach with some cleaning products. One of the many criteria involved in Aldon products is that all our products will be used with any other of our products and no normal combination of usage events should be hazardous. Nevertheless, use common sense and don't be in a hurry. Let each step prove itself satisfactorily before proceeding to the next. |
