Steps to search for a key word:

  1. Leave your cursor on or near the search button in the left panel.
  2. Hold down the control ( Ctrl ) key and type F.
(If nothing happens, click anywhere inside the left window and try again.)
  3. If the "Find" box is in the way, hold down the mouse button on the blue bar to drag it out of the way.
  4. Next - type only 1 KEY WORD -- NOT 2 in the "Find" box. Then click "find next" for the next occurrence of that word.
  5. If that word does not find what you want, try another word after returning to the top and clicking the search button again.
  6. You are searching for a word related to a problem (i.e. stain, color, etc.), not the name of a material (i.e. Saltillo, slate, etc.). Problems related to specific surface types are discussed on that materials page in   .

Example: You want to know how to remove a stain from your grout. Type grout OR stain in the "Find Box" and click "Find Next" for every occurrence of that word in the left side panel.

Note: singular "stain" will find stain and stains, plural "stains" finds only stains.

Can't find it? You can always scroll down the extensive list. Or try again by using a shortened version of the word. If there is a misspelling, the word will not be found. For instance, a word like "efflorescence" is frequently misspelled. Try  eff instead.
