Giving your credit card information to a person by telephone or in person, is less secure in our opinion. How long have they worked at the company, what is their history, etc
PRIVACY & "COOKIES":
There is a lot of notoriety about the loss of privacy using the internet and most people do not understand how that happens. When you visit some sites they will automatically plant a small file on your computer called a "cookie". This is how some sites say "Hi Suzie" when you return (if you told them your name is Suzie). The purpose is to know who you are and where you visit on their site so that they are able to market to you and your preferences in the future. Most will ask your permission before doing this, but some very aggressive marketing sites do not.
- We do not accumulate any private information from people who visit the site.
- If you email us, we may save your email address for future communication.
- We do not give or sell information to any other company for any reason.
- Aldon does not use cookies for marketing to you, however, the shopping cart company does use cookies to enable the shopping cart process. See below.
Regarding "Cookies" and Ordering from Aldon:
The company that furnishes our shopping carts holds your items and shipping information in the shopping cart for a few hours until you submit the order. This gives you the opportunity to add to an order over time without having to redo all the entries. The way the shopping cart knows that it is you returning to finish your order is because a "cookie" identifying file was placed on your computer by the shopping cart. If you see that you have lost prior items entered from the shopping cart and only show the latest item, your "privacy" setting that allows or disallows cookies is set too high.
There is no need to be concerned about the cookie file created for this purpose. When you look at any page on the internet, your computer has automatically downloaded a number of files of text and pictures and saved it to your computer. This speeds up viewing pages. You may have noticed that the second time you view the same page it loads far faster. That is because it is loading from your computer and not from the internet. This means you are saving files to your computer all the time and a cookie is just another file. The shopping cart cookie file is not accessible by Aldon and is not used for any other purpose than described.
Here is the way to revise the cookies setting to process an order. You can restore your old setting afterwards if you like.
For Internet Explorer 5.x :
Click on Tools. Then click on Internet Options. Then select Security (while you are there, make sure your settings are on Medium). Click the button that says Custom Level. Scroll down the list until you see cookies. Make sure the "Enabled" button is selected.
For Internet Explorer 6.x : Click on Tools, then Internet Options. Click on the Privacy tab. Move the selection bar to "medium".
