jewel mosaic statue     "Komodo Dragon" by Faducci

Commissioned by
Woodland Park Zoo
Seattle, WA.

Faducci chose to protect this beautiful artwork with Aldon S-B-S Sealer.

Additional Notes:

Spraying is the preferred technique to apply S-B-S Sealer to pieces that require a very smooth and even finish.

Aldon Grout Easy will keep grout out of highly textured surfaces and thus provide protection during grouting and easier cleanup without the use of harmful acidic cleaners.

The famous Missouri Tiger mosaic walkway at Lowry Mall - University of Missouri-Columbia

Mosaic was severly damaged and worn within 3 years of installation.  Note the dull, worn appearance in this "before" picture.

After considerable restoration work involving the replacement of many tile, the mosaic is not like new, but is greatly improved. The finished product has been sealed with Aldon S-B-S Sealer for future protection, plus it has been fenced off.

Important note: Aldon makes no representations about the use of our products on works of art and assumes no liability if a customer makes that choice.  We are proud that many artists have recognized the value of our products, but with all the potential variables inherent in this usage, we can only recommend testing and deciding for yourself.

There is no need for confusion or problems brought about by misidentification of a surface type, yet it happens all too often. If you would like to see why this is the case and how to properly identify a surfacing material ..... Click here

If you are concerned about doing it yourself - consider that the satisfaction of a project is directly related to your knowledge of what needs to be done and how. Who actually does the work is less important. We estimate that 25% of the usage of Aldon products is by "do it yourself" homeowners and we know they are happy because we hear from them.

Of course, sculptures can be of almost any kind of material. Stones, jewels, wood, plastic, and many, many more.  Due to the value of an artwork, extensive testing and time to evaluate needs to be conducted.

Due to the possibilitiy of softening or dissolving of paints, plastics, rubber, etc. it is best to either not use a solvent based sealer on those types of materials, or test with extra care.  Solvent bases sealers are not recommended for paintings or painted surfaces for this reason.
