ALDON SAME DAY SEALER SDSG01/00

Verify sealer choice with the Aldon “Sealer Selector”.

This “penetrating” sealer for absorbent materials:

Creates no gloss or color change on most materials

Can be used on dry or damp materials like fresh grout.

Will bond below the surface and create a subsurface barrier to efflorescence.

Average coverage is 250 – 600 sq. ft/gal depending on material absorption rate.

Note: A fired glazed tile does not need to be sealed, therefore, when sealing grout only always clean sealer from the glazed tile face before it dries

For additional information and assistance with your particular flooring material and the subjects indicated by underlined text, see the sales counter and/or visit the Aldon web site at www.aldonchem.com.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Do Not Preseal (sealing prior to grouting). Instead, use Aldon "Grout Easy" grout release.

Surface can be dry or slightly damp so long as the dampness is internal and the surface is dry.

Surface must be between 50-80 º F., CLEAN, and free of all substances that may cause a reaction or impair penetration .

Prior to sealing-test for 3 second absorption of water drops to confirm nothing exists to interfere with proper penetration.

Do not use over, or under, any other sealer. If previously sealed - first see Problem Solving: Redoing A Previously Sealed Surface"

APPLICATION TECHNIQUE — FLOORING ( Easy - Pour & Push The Puddle ):

PATCH TEST THE SEALER FIRST to insure satisfaction with your application techniques and the final appearance. Maintain adequate cross ventilation until fully cured. Wear gloves, and all else necessary for protection of breathing, eyes, and skin. Do not dilute! Clean equipment with clean water.

No sponge or sprayer. POUR directly from bottle to floor to make a small puddle (NO INTERMEDIATE CONTAINER i.e. paint tray, pail).

Suggested tool is a pad or short nap paint roller made to not rotate, thereby creating a large, soft squeegee that conforms to the surface.

Accomplish deep penetration by allowing 30-60 seconds for absorption, then push puddle remainder to a new area. Immediately add more sealer to the new area puddle and continue the process as before. Allow penetration,do not surface paint.

Judge effectiveness of sealer application, not by floor color, but by water drops not being absorbed.

Immediately wipe with clean, white, dry cloth from glazed tile, glass, metal or other dense surface as staining or etching may result.

“Same Day” must all go below the surface. Do not allow a puddle to dry on top or a white residue can remain. If this happens just clean with a mild abrasive cleanser. If that isn’t enough, use Aldon “Grout Residue Remover” (or “Brick and Block Cleaner”).

A second application will require less sealer and may show temporary darker areas as the new sealer penetrates only where needed.

For average applications (varies with humidity) : dry to touch in 1 hour, dry to walk on in 4 hours, dry hard in 24 hours, cured in 3 days.

WALLS: (Same goals as flooring, but application technique varies. See “Flooring” above for more information)

Use brush, short nap roller, or sprayer. The better the penetration into the surface the more you will achieve the goals discussed above.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE: Add gloss and additional stain protection by applying "Lifeguard". Thereafter, just use “Maintain” and “Dust Whiz”.
