ALDON FINE STONE RESTORATION 08/01

For the restoration of limestone and marble finishes, except “high polish”. Spills from acidic drinks will create a permanent etch mark on limestone and marble that cannot be cleaned, but can be polished out.

You will be using this product to duplicate the process the factory uses to create the original finish on the stone, only on a smaller scale and by hand.

For information and assistance visit aldonchem.com.

You will want to use the LEAST aggressive polishing technique first, and only use the more aggressive technique if the etching is deep and requires it.

Do not allow contact with enameled, chromed, metal plated, aluminum, or other non-acid resistant surfaces. Clean equipment with clean water. Always patch test a small area first. Open cap slowly to vent!

Wear rubber gloves and all else necessary for protection of breathing, eyes, and skin while handling acid based products.

Least aggressive technique for light etches: Squeeze enough liquid into a piece of “0000” steel wool (available from hardware and paint stores) to saturate and rub the etched spot in a circular motion. (Note: The liquid will eventually rust the steel wool, so do not reuse the steel wool if rusting has occurred.) Continue until etch is no longer visible. Observe at an angle to a light source for the best viewing. Rinse thoroughly - avoid food contact.

Most aggressive technique for deep etches: Squeeze liquid into a “fine textured sponge sanding block” (available from paint stores) and rub the etched area in a circular motion. The sponge sanding block will hold the liquid and provide a “rougher” surface than the steel wool. Continue until the etch depth blends into the surrounding area and is only visible as a “rougher, duller” area on the stone surface. Then switch to the least aggressive technique above to achieve a finer finish.

Polished Marble: This technique works on highly polished marble also, but the area will be dulled down to the equivalent of a “honed” finish. The “mirror like” finish of this material might also require additional treatment beyond the above. See our web site for the latest available products and techniques.

FIRST AID: Do not induce vomiting. Immediately drink large quantities of water. Call a physician or Poison Control Center. IF INHALED - If odor is strong or you notice dizziness, headache or eyewatering - STOP-leave area immediately. IF EYE/MUCOUS MEMBRANE CONTACT OR SKIN IRRITATION: Flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing & footwear. If irritation persists, get medical attention. IN ALL CASES-Immediately Contact a physician & Poison Control Center! Emergency = 800-535-5053 or 352-323-3500.
